Christmas Stocking

Christmas, Macro

I am one lucky lady because the beautiful stockings in these images were lovingly cross-stitched by my sister ten years ago, ready for us to fill for our son’s first Christmas. Words can’t express how excited I was to hang our stockings from the fireplace this year (for the first time), like we used to when I was growing up.

The close-up/macro shots I took of my stocking really uncover the intricate detail of the stitch work.  I am still amazed at how marvelous these stockings are when I pull them out of storage every year for the Christmas season.

Certainly, I must acknowledge that these stunning stockings were made complete by my mom, who sewed each cross-stitched canvas onto silky satin producing superb keepsakes to cherish for a lifetime.

Entranced by rural and urban decay. I am drawn to these forlorn sites because they emote conflicting sentiments of beauty and disintegration.
