Twigs and Berries
I love photographing the minute details nature has to offer. For many of us, the environment is something that simply surrounds us. Upon closer examination, I have observed that our surroundings are a complex construction of miniscule elements. Their beauty is truly captivating.

Thorny
Sharp, barbed, pointy projections, spiny, and prickly are all words that describe the following photos of thorn bearing twigs my pants got caught on while traipsing through the forest.

Bottle Nozzles
I wanted to capture the roughness of the plastic; the dry, crusted bits of hair products; and the individual pieces of lint adhering to the surfaces of common beauty product packaging.

Rosy Cheeks
Beautiful rosy cheeks and Jack Frost nipping at your nose are what you get when you play outside on a cold winter’s day. Return to Portraits

Metal Parts
Oil, dust, and debris coat my husband’s Harley motorcycle. She has been patiently been waiting under her protective covering for her rider to take her out of her deep sleep. However, her recent awakening was only partial and very brief in nature, as she was pushed out […]

Enjoying the Sunshine
Another beautiful afternoon in Sooke, BC. I mentioned to my son, as he got home from school, that we should go out and enjoy the sun as the weather forecast is looking bleak for the remainder of the week. Casually, I said that we could […]

Skye the Husky/Lab Dog
Isn’t she striking? As the title of my post indicates, her name is Skye and she is a Husky/Lab. She certainly is a beautiful animal.

Diamond Engagement Ring
Fourteen years ago I was presented this ring with the question, “Will you marry me?” Thirteen years of marriage later, the gold is now etched with wear. Each scratch representing the peaks and the valleys of matrimony.

Mini Cymbidium Orchid
Individually, silky soft petals, a long elegant stem and a brightly colored trumpet are beautiful to behold, but together they make up a magnificent orchid flower. If you really want to be amazed, zoom in on the orchid’s tongue to reveal its semi-translucent hairs.

Sooke Skate Park
I wanted to spice up my blog today with a few action packed photos. I photographed these thrilling shots months ago at our local skate park and thought they would be perfect for a spine-tingling blog entry.

Frost and Ice Crystals
My husband and I hiked along the winding Koksilah River, where winter still has its frosty grip on the landscape. The trail is bare in most spots, albeit frozen. But along its borders the snow is slowly receding, a tell-tale sign that spring is approaching. […]

Playing at the Beach
Boys will be boys, me thinks. While at French Beach, Big M pitched rocks of all sizes into the ocean surf. He also played a few games of chicken with the incoming tide. He escaped the icy waters a handful of times and of course […]

Drill Press Sprockets
This drill press resides on a farm in southern Saskatchewan. I photographed it because of its interesting shape and superb texture, which is a result of years worth of grease and dust on its surface.
