Couvent Jésus Marie Library

Architecture, Fine Art, Gravelbourg, Historical Site

Couvent Jésus-Marie is believed to be the largest and most architecturally ambitious convent school erected in the Franco-Catholic colonies; few of these schools in Western Canada, if any, approach its scale and character. Excerpt taken from: Ecclesiastical Buildings in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan

The most renowned area of the former convent is the library. It is like taking a step back in time when you walk through this opulent space. The detailed architecture and the paintings are truly spectacular to behold.

Entranced by rural and urban decay. I am drawn to these forlorn sites because they emote conflicting sentiments of beauty and disintegration.
